Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy has filed for divorce from model and actress Elle Evans after six years of marriage, bringing an end to their relationship amid a private family separation.
Bellamy filed the divorce petition in Los Angeles on August 12, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. According to court documents, he is also seeking legal and physical custody of the couple’s two young children.
The couple shares a daughter, born in 2020, and a son, born in 2024.
Prenuptial agreement could shape the divorce
Financial matters could become an important part of the proceedings because Bellamy referenced the couple’s prenuptial agreement in his filing.
The terms of the agreement have not been made public. Bellamy indicated that Evans could be entitled to spousal support under the agreement, while he asked the court to deny him any spousal support.
The filing also states that Bellamy has not yet determined the complete extent of the couple’s separate assets, community property, and debts. He reserved the right to amend his petition as more financial information becomes available.
Their separation had already been revealed
Although the divorce was filed in August 2026, Bellamy had previously revealed that he and Evans had separated the previous summer.
In a June interview with The i Paper, the musician described the circumstances as unexpected and difficult to explain publicly. He said the situation forced him to focus on his children and on creating stability at home.
From meeting on a Muse video to marriage
Bellamy and Evans were first romantically linked in 2015 after reportedly meeting while working on the music video for Muse’s song “Mercy.”
Bellamy proposed to Evans during a vacation in Fiji in December 2017. The couple married in 2019 and went on to have two children together.
Now, after six years of marriage, their relationship is moving into the legal divorce process, with custody, property, debts and the terms of their private prenuptial agreement among the issues that could need to be resolved.
The divorce proceedings remain ongoing, and the final custody and financial arrangements have not yet been determined.
